SURVEY INVITATION ON Condominium Dispute Resolution Tribunal Development
The Alberta Condominium Tribunal Engagement forwarded an invitation to CCI South Alberta to participate in an online public survey gathering input on a condominium dispute resolution tribunal, as part of regulatory development work under the Condominium Property Amendment Act (CPAA).
In Canada, the provinces of Ontario, B.C., and Nova Scotia operate condominium tribunals but in Alberta, the only method available for resolving condominium-related disputes is through the court system. A tribunal will provide access to affordable and efficient dispute resolution for condominium issues while helping relieve the backlog in Alberta’s court system.
Based on input received from previous engagements and an examination of similar tribunals, the Government of Alberta has developed proposals, as well as alternative options, for a condominium dispute resolution tribunal.
In the online survey, we are seeking your feedback on several key elements of a condominium dispute resolution tribunal. Your input will be used to assess options to determine if they are effective. The key elements explored in the survey are:
- Dispute Resolution Process
- Tribunal Fees
- Funding Model
- Public Disclosure of Decisions
To participate, please click the personalized link below. The survey can also be accessed at condo.alberta.ca and follow the survey link. The survey will be available from October 6, 2020, until November 10, 2020.
Please share this invitation with anyone who may be interested in providing their insights on condominium dispute resolution. We want to hear from owners, board members, managers, and anyone else involved in the condominium industry.
If you have any questions about the survey on the condominium dispute resolution tribunal, or if you are unable to access it online, please contact Condominium Dispute Resolution Tribunal Engagement Project Team by email at SA.condotribunalengagement@gov.ab.ca.
