EXPRESS INTEREST TO ENGAGE IN UPCOMING DISCUSSIONS
Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction (SARTR) has been tasked with the specific directive of advancing and enacting revisions to the Condominium Property Act, as previously instructed by the Cabinet. This involves addressing proposed amendments to the Act that were put forth in 2022 but did not secure approval. Additionally, SARTR consistently evaluates the legislation to ensure its efficacy in supporting the governance and operations of condominium communities. Ongoing efforts are also being made towards establishing a condominium dispute resolution service.
The input of condominium stakeholders is pivotal in the continuous enhancement of the Condominium Property Act and Regulation. To facilitate this collaborative process, SARTR extends an invitation for your participation in small group discussions centred around identified areas for improvement. These encompass topics such as chargebacks, the implementation of a condominium tribunal, and various aspects of the Act and Regulation, including but not limited to the ownership of bank accounts, terminations, and insurance deductibles.
If you would like to engage in these discussions, which will be conducted virtually, please respond directly to condoengage@gov.ab.ca by February 9, 2024. When responding include the perspective(s) you would bring to the discussions: • Owner • Board member • Condominium manager • Lawyer
Additionally, indicate the primary region of the province in which you reside and/or work (e.g., Calgary, Edmonton, Canmore, Lethbridge, Red Deer, Medicine Hat, Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray).
