CCISA NEWS: New Condominium Legislation Placed on Pause
New Condominium Legislation Placed on Pause
In response to multiple stakeholders identifying the regulations passed in the fall 2018 as adding red tape, Cabinet has approved a motion to “pause” the regulations for six months, to January 1, 2020. This includes Legislation for New Condominium Regulations which were to have come into effect starting on July 1, 2019.
The Minister of Service Alberta, Nate Glubish, stated: “Since becoming minister, I have been approached by stakeholders who felt overlooked by the previous government around their concerns that the proposed changes would add administrative burdens on boards and managers. We take these concerns seriously and we are not afraid to take bold and decisive action in the interests of Albertans.”
Ryan Coles, CCI South Alberta President, added: “CCI South Alberta is please that Service Alberta has reached out to us shortly after their announcement, and we look forward to our continued participation on the legislation with the Alberta Government on behalf of our members.”.
